Mantrailing is teaching a dog to follow a specific person's scent to find them, just for fun. It involves another person laying a trail for your dog.
Yes any dog of any age can participate, with trails being laid specific to that dogs abilities. This is something a dog does naturally however, the process is getting them to stay focused on one specific scent for the trail. Mantrailing is a low impact activity and the trails are worked at the dogs (and sometimes handlers speed) it is not a race or competition. The dogs are worked on a harness and line. All the dog needs is a nose and a willing owner.
To start you will need to join our next workshop sessions which are held throughout the year. These are split into an introductory zoom, about an hour hosted by Mantrailing Scent Dogs based in Surrey, which gives you a bit more of a background on how dogs process scent and about mantrailing. Followed by a practical session, usually held the next day where we introduce the dogs to the 'game' and start the learning process.
If you would like to join the waitlist then please use the 'contact us' form to find out when the next workshop is running.
