Cowal Mantrailing was founded in summer 2023 after we moved to Dunoon, from Surrey. I wanted to continue Mantrailing with my dogs, however found there wasn't anyone in the area doing this or any other form of outdoor activities for dogs so decided to set up Cowal Mantrailing.
This has been done with the support of Mantrailing Scent Dogs based in Surrey.
In October 2024 I completed my training to become an accredited instructor for Trail Hunt.
My name is Nicola and I am the owner of Cowal Mantrailing. I have always enjoyed being and working with dogs and they have been a huge part of my life. I was a fosterer for Spaniel Aid UK for 2 years prior to having my son. I currently own 2 spaniels which have had a go at a variety of activities including agility, scent work, flyball, mantrailing and now trail hunt. My dogs have been mantrailing for over 2 years. I love training my dogs and seeing them succeed in something they enjoy and love to teach people.
Maple
Maple came into our lives at 8 weeks old after deciding we wanted a Cocker Spaniel as our first dog. She is highly intelligent, excitable and hard work. I have spent time working on her training and finding activities to keep her busy. She is desperate to work and will do absolutely anything for a tennis ball or cheese!
Rosa
Rosa was foster number 3 and came into our care in December 2020 at just four months old. She is an English Springer Spaniel who was born with multifocal retinal dysplasia in both eyes, which meant she has had limited vision all her life. Unfortunately, in July 2022 she had to have both eyes removed. However, this does not hold her back. She adapted back to mantrailing 3 weeks after surgery with her confidence returning. She still believes she is perfectly able to lead us everywhere we go and few notice she has no eyes.
